Extend metta (loving-kindness) to others, starting with someone you care about, then to neutral people, and finally to difficult people.

Settle comfortably... Begin with someone you care about: 'May you be happy. May you be peaceful.'... Then a neutral person... Finally, someone difficult... Feel the love extending outward... Continue for 15 minutes.
