Ordinary Tea • 10-minute sensory-guided presence with tea/coffee.

Try this for three weeks: whatever you do, do it with as much totality, love, and joy as possible. Even an ordinary cup of tea can become an extraordinary experience. Make the tea a meditation. Listen to the sound of the kettle, the sound of the pour. Smell the fragrance. Taste it. Be completely present with the tea. Don't think of the future; live in the present.

Go and prepare a cup of tea or coffee. As you prepare it, be fully present. Listen to the sound of the water being poured. Listen to the kettle's song as it heats. Watch the steam rise. Now sit with your tea. Look at the color—really see it. Smell the aroma—take it in fully. Now take the first sip. Taste it completely. Feel the warmth. For these 10 minutes, there is only you and this tea. Nothing else exists. Be completely present with this simple, ordinary act. Let it become extraordinary through your presence.
